Yesterday it was another choppy trading session with US indices ending mixed following CPI data that was largely in line with market expectations. Throughout this week the S&P 500 has been ping ponging between its 20d and 50d moving averages. Asian markets rallied overnight as the PBOC lowered the reserve requirement ratio for banks by 25bps.

European indices also were also moving higher ahead of this morning’s ECB rate decision and have extended to the upside since currently up ~1%. As we noted the Reuters article on Wednesday night shifted market expectations for a rate hike. In the US, like yesterday headline PPI came in ahead of expectations while core was about in line. After dropping significantly last week initial/continuing claims were about in line with estimates.

US yields are down ~3bps across the curve with the exception of the 30yr which is around unchanged. S&P futures have been sinking fund method formula moving higher throughout the morning and are now testing the weekly highs currently trading ~0.6% above fair-value.
